Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Registered Nurse- PACU in the Perioperative department. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week, day shift with a possible variable start time and call shifts for nights and weekends.

The RN will assess and plan patient care, document outcomes, and uphold HIPAA/privacy and infection-control standards within a high-acuity perioperative setting. DC license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required or preferred with PACU/ICU/ED experience valued.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree and DC license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of RN acute care experience; PACU/ICU/ED preferred.
• CPAN certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, intervenes & evaluates patient care at the bedside.
• Documents (electronic) patient care and outcomes.
• Maintains HIPAA privacy and infection-control standards.
• Participates in unit performance improvement activities.
• Acts as charge nurse with approval by the nurse manager.
• Supports education and engagement initiatives within the unit.
