Job summary

Scripps Health in La Jolla is hiring for a Patient Service Representative in Perinatology. This full-time role (80 hours per pay period) operates Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM at Scripps Clinic La Jolla.

You will be the front line for patient experience, handling registration, scheduling, insurance, and payments. Ideal candidates will have strong computer, math, and communication skills, plus experience in customer service or healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration, assign Medical Record Number, schedule appointments, collect payments, collect documents, and check-out.
• Respond to patient billing and payment inquiries.
• Manage check-in/check-out process including ID verification, demographic and insurance verification, and ensure forms are properly provided and signed.
• Schedule and confirm appointments in person or by phone and enter insurance details.
• Initiate and validate referrals/authorizations.
• Adopt a proactive customer service approach, listening to patients and escalating to leadership when needed.
