Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CST certificate and BLS required.
• 1–3 years related work experience required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or U.S. military/public health service equivalent.
• Maintains certified surgical technologist credential.
• Annual mandatory education requirements.
• Basic familiarity with computers.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains a sterile field and monitors sterile technique.
• Assists surgeon with retractors, sponging, suctioning, suturing, and draping.
• Accounts for supplies, equipment, and environmental support in a cost-effective manner; prepares instruments for sterilization.
• Safeguards patient privacy and maintains confidentiality; upholds patient rights.
• Maintains stock in operating room carts; coordinates with Clinical Resource Nurse; reports kit or equipment issues and participates in corrective actions.
