Chapman University is seeking a Facilities and Events Manager to lead event planning, facility operations, and staff supervision for CoPA and Musco Center. You’ll integrate the performance calendar with university offices and ensure readiness, safety, and asset management across COPA facilities.

This on-campus role requires strong budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with venue staff, production teams, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater Production, Technical Theater, Stage Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing operational logistics of theater productions.
  • Experience managing staff and building strong working relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrated skills in resource management and time management; willing to work nights and weekends.
  • Solid understanding of budgets and accounting to help track expenditures.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents.
  • Ability to interface professionally with various levels of co-workers, vendors, and donors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical and staffing issues relating to events and performances.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain meticulous records.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Strong technical skills to learn departmental and enterprise tools.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preparation and assessment of event readiness for all CoPA events.
  • Collaborate with Dean/PM to establish benchmarks for productions.
  • Advance events with venue staff; review technical riders and requirements.
  • Coordinate and track front-of-house tasks for events.
  • Administer post-production surveys to improve future productions.
  • Coordinate CoPA special events and festivals; manage liability waivers.
  • Attend and participate in all CoPA production meetings.
  • Develop production calendars and distribute resources for rehearsals and performances.
  • Create templates and maintain production communication platforms.
  • Supervise Patron Services Coordinator and Conservatory Operations Coordinator.
  • Oversee front-of-house seating layouts and venue operations.
  • Manage asset tracking, inventory policies, and safety plans.
  • Develop Emergency Action Plans for COPA facilities and SOPs for facilities/events.
  • Coordinate with IS&T on technical needs for classrooms and venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
