Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for a per diem, PRN role in Youngstown, Ohio. The RN will deliver patient care using the nursing process, coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, provide patient education, and act as a safety advocate.

Responsibilities include ongoing assessments, medication administration, and ensuring high-quality care across the lifespan with collaboration from spiritual/palliative/ethics teams.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, ACLS required within 6 months)
• CCRN Critical Care Registered Nurse (preferred)
• PCCN Progressive Care Certified Nurse (preferred)
• NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred)
• 1 year of RN experience (required)

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with state requirements and hospital policies
• Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
• Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
• Serves as patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual/palliative/ethics teams
• Serves as a point of care with care coordination and family/caregivers
• Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and trauma
• Uses AACN Synergy Model to support stability and rehabilitation across the lifespan
• Synthesizes information for evidence-based, patient-focused action
• Anticipates and responds to changing patient conditions
• Responds to unique patient/family needs and advocates for quality of life decisions
• Adheres to Nursing Professional Practice Model and organizational standards
