Job summary

Adventist HealthCare’s White Oak Medical Center Rehabilitation department seeks an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for inpatient therapy. The per diem role requires initial evaluations, treatment planning, discharge planning, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience (at least 1 year in setting preferred).
• Active Maryland License.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs an initial examination and evaluation to establish impairment/diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care for rehabilitation needs.
• Provides, or directs and supervises, therapy intervention consistent with examination results and plan of care; involves patient and others in planning and assessment.
• Plans for discharge in consultation with other disciplines, ensuring goals and outcomes are met and arranging follow-up or referrals as needed.
• Communicates, documents, and coordinates patient management with the care team; supervises rehab aides and volunteers as indicated.
• Manages schedule to accommodate census and patient load; attends team meetings to share patient status.
• Engages in quality improvement and professional development activities and educates others about therapy benefits.
