Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a per diem Speech Language Pathologist for Home Care to evaluate, plan, direct, and administer therapy programs across patient ages. You will assess speech, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing disorders, and develop plans of care with patients and families to maximize independence.

The role requires a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, PA SLP licensure, and PA BLS upon hire, with shifts across various locations.

• Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
• SLP - Licensed Speech Language Pathologist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

• Performs evaluations of the speech language and the swallowing function to detect speech or voice disorders.
• Evaluates cognition, language, reading comprehension, speech intelligibility, and voice.
• Supports communication and collaboration with physician oversight of speech pathology programs.
• Completes supportive documentation/billing in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory compliance.
• Assists in increasing intelligibility of speech, using alternative or augmentative devices to facilitate better communication.
• Reviews overall service quality and effectiveness of programs.
• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Delivers evidence-based patient care appropriate to age/patient specific needs in a cost-effective manner.
• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
• Assists the physician(s) with determining appropriate dietary feeding levels for patients with dysphagia or other special needs.
