Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Suffolk, NY seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for Internal Medicine to join Medical Staff Services on a per diem basis. The role covers in-house care including ED, pre-admission testing, and operating room support under physician supervision.

The candidate will perform assessments, order tests, document care, implement treatment plans, and collaborate with physicians to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PA program accredited by the ARC-PA.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant.
• Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant.
• Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination.
• Orders and interprets tests and results.
• Documents care in the chart per hospital policy.
• Formulates diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Consults with physician as needed.
• Reassesses patients and documents updates.
• Provides emergency medical care and trauma assessments in ED.
• Performs procedures with required sterile technique and within scope.
