Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Physician Assistant for Surgical Services on a per diem basis in Suffolk, NY. The PA will work under physician supervision, delivering a broad range of medical services in-house, including the ED, operating room, and ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities include performing H&P, ordering tests, and implementing treatment plans, with emphasis on patient safety, documentation, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PA program accredited by The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant.
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant.
• Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination.
• Orders and interprets tests and results as needed.
• Documents care in the chart per hospital policy.
• Formulates diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Consults with physician when required.
• Reassesses patients.
• Orders and applies restraints as needed.
• Provides emergency medical care including Code 64 management.
• Triages patients in the ED.
• Performs trauma assessment/reassessment.
• Documents patient information in charts and forms.
• Ensures discharge instructions are given in ED cases.
