Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, formal phlebotomy training, and preferably a Phlebotomy Technician certification and BLS within 45 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency required.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
• BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current, according to hospital requirement.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for laboratory analysis.
• Handle computer data entry, filing, and telephone communication as part of daily tasks.
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and use of equipment.
• Process specimens across microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank.
• Stock routine supplies and maintain cleanliness of storage areas and work areas.
• Assist with sample pickup/delivery and related duties as needed.
