Job summary

Shields Surgery Center in Medford, MA is seeking an Operating Room RN for a per diem role with Monday–Friday daytime availability. You will provide direct perioperative nursing care, delegate and coordinate with physicians and staff, and help maintain a safe, efficient OR environment.

Required: MA RN license, current BLS, ACLS within one year, 2+ years OR or ambulatory surgery experience. Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of one year in Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Surgery, or OR nursing.
• Current MA nursing license; BLS required; ACLS within one year.
• Lift requirements as described and ability to perform perioperative duties.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a collaborative OR culture and participates in staff and department meetings.
• Provides direct perioperative nursing care using the nursing process to support patient safety and comfort.
• Documents patient care and communicates plans to the care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Assists with setup, turnover, and sterilization of the OR suite and equipment.
• Assesses patient readiness and supports families with appropriate information and updates.
