Job summary

Shields Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a per diem daytime role in Medford. The ideal candidate has prior ambulatory surgery experience and current MA licensure, with BLS and ACLS as required qualifications.

You will collaborate with physicians and teams to deliver safe, efficient perioperative care. Responsibilities include patient assessment, documentation, and precepting new staff, with a focus on patient comfort, safety, and family communication.

Qualifications

• Two years education at an accredited School of Nursing to be eligible for RN licensure.
• Minimum of one year in Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Surgery, or OR nursing.
• BLS from AHA or equivalent required.
• ACLS required within one year of hire.
• PALS certification preferred or obtained within six months.
• Massachusetts nursing license in good standing.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a positive organizational culture.
• Attend staff meetings, in-services, and ongoing education.
• Communicate effectively with caregivers and patients to ensure quality perioperative care.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process and physician plan.
• Maintain patient safety, comfort, and informed consent.
• Coordinate with team to precept new caregivers and adjust staffing.
• Document care accurately and ensure continuity of care across shifts and teams.
• Maintain infection control and supply readiness.
