Job summary

Shields Surgery Center in Medford, MA is seeking Operating Room RNs with Monday-Friday daytime availability to provide general nursing care and leadership while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary caregivers.

You will use the nursing process to support peri-operative care, assess patient needs, and ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced surgical environment. This per diem role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of nursing education to be eligible for RN licensure.
• Minimum of one year in Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Surgery, or OR nursing.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider or equivalent.
• ACLS within 1 year of hire.
• PALS certification preferred or within 6 months of request.
• Massachusetts nursing license without sanctions or disciplinary actions.
• Lift/carry requirements as specified in job description.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain an organizational culture focused on being the best place to work and receive care.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and educational activities.
• Communicate effectively to coordinate patient care and support caregivers.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process for peri-operative patients.
• Ensure patient safety and quality of care through established protocols.
• Assist with peri-operative assessments and patient education.
• Maintain infection control and proper medication handling procedures.
• Support department staffing needs and cross-training opportunities.
• Ensure proper supplies and equipment are available and functioning.
