Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by performing patient care tasks, taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and keeping the unit clean and safe.

You will stock supplies, operate hospital equipment as directed, and perform routine clerical duties while contributing to an acute care team dedicated to patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs, assist patients with hygiene and elimination, and maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, and performing routine clerical tasks.
• Provide support to professional nursing personnel as assigned.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate, patient-centered care.
