Job summary

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit on a per diem night shift. The RN provides safe patient care using the nursing process, and directs patient/family teaching while guiding other nursing staff.

The role requires an active state RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days. Prior acute care and ventilator management experience are preferred; BSN is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice in Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit.
• Direct patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing staff while maintaining standards of care.
• Communicate with physician about changes in patient condition, tests, and symptoms.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
