Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is seeking an MRI Technologist for per diem shifts. The role focuses on performing medically prescribed MRI procedures with supervision by a radiologist, ensuring safety, quality, and high diagnostic image integrity.

The candidate will independently perform MRI exams, select protocols, manage contrast administration, and collaborate with radiologists and nursing staff to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Technical Diploma graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License within 180 days of hire.
• ARRT (X-Ray) certification within 180 days of hire.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Review physician orders and MRI safety screening forms to ensure exam appropriateness and patient safety.
• Prepare patients for contrast administration; pre-medicate for allergic reactions when indicated.
• Explain MRI procedures clearly to patients to reduce anxiety while maintaining dignity and comfort.
• Obtain patient consent and verify identity using hospital protocols.
• Perform MRI examinations per department protocols and radiologist directives; adjust protocols as needed.
• Perform IV placement and contrast administration per policy.
• Maintain MRI environment; conduct quality control checks on equipment.
