Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is seeking a Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Imaging - Per Diem to perform MRI procedures under radiologist supervision. The role emphasizes patient safety, imaging quality, and protocol adherence across all MRI exams.

The incumbent will handle patient preparation, contrast administration, image post-processing, and collaboration with radiologists and nurses to ensure efficient workflow. Strong safety awareness and communication are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Technical Diploma from AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
• Radiologic Technologist (Temporary) Permit at time of hire.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License within 180 days of permit issuance.
• ARRT (X-Ray) certification within 180 days of hire.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Review physician orders and MRI safety screening forms to ensure exam appropriateness and patient safety.
• Prepare patients for contrast administration and pre-medication when indicated.
• Explain MRI procedures to patients to reduce anxiety while maintaining dignity and comfort.
• Operate MRI equipment per protocols and radiologist directives; select imaging protocols and parameters.
• Perform IV placement and contrast administration following policy and safety standards.
• Maintain MRI environment, perform QC checks, and document equipment performance.
