Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in New York seeks a Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Imaging - Per Diem-Hospital to perform MRI exams under radiologist supervision, ensuring safety and high-quality images.

Responsibilities include patient prep, contrast administration, protocol selection, IV placement, equipment operation, and RIS/HIS documentation. This per di em position emphasizes collaboration with radiologists and staff to deliver excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in radiology or imaging services.
• NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License within 180 days of hire.
• ARRT (X-Ray) certification within 180 days of hire.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Reviews orders and ensures exam appropriateness and safety.
• Prepares patients for contrast and manages pre-medication if indicated.
• Obtains consent and verifies patient identity.
• Explains MRI procedures and reduces patient anxiety while maintaining dignity.
• Responds to emergencies and notifies staff as required.
• Follows isolation precautions and infection control standards.
• Adheres to MRI safety standards and zone management.
• Demonstrates knowledge of MRI anatomy and protocols.
• Independently performs MRI examinations per protocols.
• Selects imaging protocols, positioning, coils and parameters.
• Adjusts techniques to optimize diagnostic quality and safety.
• Produces high-quality images and transmits to PACS.
• Performs IV placement and contrast administration.
