Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is seeking an MRI Technician – Per Diem for Outpatient Radiology in Jamaica Estates. Under a Radiologist, perform MRI exams and produce diagnostic images following established standards.

Responsibilities include operating MRI equipment, delegating patient prep, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Experience with PACS and RIS is preferred; ARRT MRI certification within 180 days is required.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
• New York State Radiologic Technologist License or Temporary Permit.
• ARRT Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of hire or transfer.
• Strong written, oral communication, problem‑solving, and customer‑service skills.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI equipment to acquire diagnostic images of specified body areas as ordered.
• Accurately utilize PACS to make images available to radiologists with minimal exceptions.
• Enter exam codes in the Radiology Information System and complete exams promptly.
• Instruct and supervise radiography students during clinical practicum; evaluate images.
• Prepare and position patients; ensure image quality falls within SOP and provide procedure explanations.
• Follow MRI safety protocols for patient and employee safety within the magnetic field.
• Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies; report issues promptly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
