Responsibilities

• Performs and reports assigned analytical tests, including high-complexity tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection and abnormal results; communicates requirements to personnel.
• Maintains QA policies to ensure validity of results and performs quality control before releasing patient results.
• Maintains a safe working environment, performs equipment checks, and troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Enters test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for physicians review.
• Maintains records per regulatory requirements; manages requisitions and data.
• Consults with Supervisor/Pathologist on important results; notes inadequate volume or appearance.
• Reviews Critical Test results by repeat analysis and notifies nursing staff/physician.
• Assists in inventory control for supplies and reagents.
• Participates in other projects/duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lab Management.
