Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related Science field is required.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License is required.
• 0-1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports analytical tests, including high-complexity tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or recognizing abnormal/unusual results; communicates specimen requirements.
• Maintains QA policies and procedures to ensure validity of results and performs quality control for all testing.
• Maintains a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks and monitoring temperatures.
• Enters test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports for physicians.
• Maintains all records as per regulatory requirements including card files, patient requisitions, LIS documentation, and data.
• Consults with Supervisor or Pathologist on important results or out-of-range measurements and notes sample adequacy.
• Reviews all Critical Test results by repeat analysis if necessary and communicates to Nursing/Physician; supervisor notified in extremes.
• Assists in Inventory Control to ensure adequate supplies and proper storage of reagents and consumables.
• Participates in other projects/duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lab Management.

Education
