Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist to join the laboratory team. The role includes day shift coverage with every-other-weekend requirements and per diem scheduling to meet department needs.

The candidate will perform diagnostic laboratory tests across multiple departments, adhere to turnaround times, and actively participate in quality control and safety procedures. Collaboration with staff and ongoing education are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to perform analytical laboratory testing with independent judgment.
• Requires adherence to STAT protocol and turn-around times.
• Performs troubleshooting and maintenance and documents actions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic lab tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology and blood bank.
• Maintain QC and ensure proper specimen labeling and handling.
• Prepare reagents and manage inventory; follow safety and quality guidelines.
• Assist in instrument evaluation and participate in continuing education.
