Job summary

Carbon Health Federal Way, WA is seeking an urgent care Medical Assistant on a per diem, hourly basis. You will support providers and staff by handling check-in, vitals, phlebotomy, POCT, and rooming patients in a fast-paced clinic.

Work with EMR documentation, front-office tasks, and patient education, ensuring accurate records and compliance with HIPAA. Per diem flexibility helps cover varying shifts and patient flow needs at our Federal Way location.

Qualifications

• Must complete accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinic or similar healthcare setting.
• Current Medical Assistant certification/registration (or eligibility), as required by state or employer standards.
• Current BLS/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Proficient in phlebotomy including venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Experience performing POCT and documenting results accurately.
• Hands-on experience with rooming patients, vitals, and EMR documentation.
• Experience with patient check-in, registration, and basic front-office workflows.

Responsibilities

• Check-in patients, verify demographics and insurance, complete forms and consents.
• Room patients, document vital signs, history, medications, and chief complaints in the EMR.
• Perform phlebotomy including venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Conduct POCT, maintain quality control logs, and document results.
• Prepare exam rooms, keep them clean, stocked, and compliant with infection control standards.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures as directed.
• Coordinate with front desk, nursing, and providers to minimize wait times.
• Provide clear aftercare instructions for follow-up tests and procedures.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation of all clinical tasks.
• Handle calls and inquiries professionally and relay messages as needed.
• Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA policies; flexibility for per diem shifts.
