Job summary

Concentra, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant PRN to join our patient care team in Elk Grove Village, IL.

You will perform routine medical procedures under direct supervision, assist clinicians during examinations, take vital signs, collect specimens, and support in front office duties to ensure a smooth patient flow. This Per Diem role emphasizes compassionate patient care, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced occupational health setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant.
• Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience
• Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology; occupational medicine knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required ancillary testing
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Responsible for performing routine medical procedures and triaging emergent patients
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the clinician
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
• Notify supervisor if equipment not functioning or supplies needed
• Keep patients informed of wait times
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings/huddles
• Complete applicable training including clinical competency training
