Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in the United States is seeking a Lab Specimen Processor, Per-Diem to join the clinical laboratory team. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the role accepts, processes, identifies and labels specimens following protocol to ensure specimen integrity and accurate diagnosis.

The position involves handling a variety of specimens, working with automated instrumentation, and may require rotating weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-year related laboratory experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to identify and evaluate proper specimen collection and storage.
• Proficiency with basic computer and data entry tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper labeling and identification of specimens.
• Inventory and restock supplies in organized fashion.
• Monitor reagents and maintain inventory levels.
• Receive, archive, and discard specimens per established procedures.
• Prepare benches and reload instruments and supplies.
• Maintain infection control and safety policies per guidelines.
• Assist with send-out tasks, including packing lists and requisitions.
• Transport chemical waste following MWRA and hospital regulations.
