Job summary
Advocate Health Care's Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL seeks a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) RN to provide forensic nursing services, conduct examinations, and support victims with compassionate care.
The FNE/SANE will perform forensic exams, interviews, collect specimens, and coordinate resources while adhering to IAFN guidelines and ensuring high-quality patient care. This per diem role requires 48 hrs of call per 6 weeks and at least 1 year of RN experience.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers within 6 months.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program.
- IL nurses must obtain OAG completion certificate.
- WI nurses must complete didactic and clinical skills training.
Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic examination documenting evidence for court proceedings.
- Perform forensic interview with the patient about the incident.
- Collect specimens, take photos, and perform age-appropriate exams as needed.
- Coordinate resources and supervise FNE/SANE staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide patient care using nursing process and assess outcomes.
- Train and orient staff and supervise performance with unit leadership.
- Monitor staffing and maintain productivity within the department.
- Ensure policy compliance with IAFFN guidelines and center protocols.
- Develop new or existing programs in collaboration with management.
- Demonstrate age-appropriate care and growth/development considerations.
