Responsibilities

• The FNE/SANE nurse will conduct a forensic examination of the patient, cataloging evidence for court or police proceedings and conduct forensic interviews.
• During examinations, collect specimens, photograph injuries, and perform age-appropriate physical/genital exams as needed.
• Provide medical care and guidance through required treatments while supporting the patient.
• Provides work direction to FNE/SANE staff and coordinates resources to support procedures and patient flow.
• Delivers direct patient care using the nursing process, assessing patients, implementing care plans, and evaluating outcomes.
• Acts as a resource to employees, providing training, day-to-day guidance, and performance input.
• Monitors staffing, assignments, and productivity to maintain department operations.
• Ensures compliance with policies and IAFN guidelines for quality of care.
• Collaborates with management to develop new and existing programs and services.
