Job summary

Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Forensic Nurse Examiner to join the Emergency Department team. The role provides direct care to patients 13+ with recent sexual assault, documents findings, and may testify in court. Per diem, 6 eight-hour call shifts monthly with various schedules.

The candidate must have a nursing/medical/PA degree, MN RN/MD/PA license, 40-hour SANE-A, IAFN Skills Lab attendance, CPR certification, and IPV training or Hopkins Danger Assessment within one year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing, medical or PA School.
• Must possess a valid RN, MD, or PA license issued by Minnesota.
• Completion of a 40-hour SANE-A course required.
• IAFN-approved SANE Clinical Skills Lab before hire or within 1 month.
• Current AHA CPR certifications required.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital.
• Preferred minimum 24 months nursing experience.
• Completion of IPV Nurse Examiner certificate or Hopkins Danger Assessment training; if not completed, must within first year.
• SANE-A certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients 13+ who indicate sexual assault within the past 240 hours.
• Document history and physical examination findings; may testify in court as needed.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and education sessions; perform other duties as assigned.
