Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN is actively recruiting a Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our Emergency Department team.

This role delivers direct care to patients 13 years and older who report sexual assault within 240 hours and coordinates follow-up services and community referrals. The position includes per diem shifts, 6 eight-hour call shifts monthly, and attendance at staff meetings and mandatory training as new products or processes are introduced.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing, medical or PA program.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota RN/MD/PA license.
• Completion of a 40-hour SANE-A course required.
• IAFN SANE Clinical Skills Lab training required within 1 month of hire.
• Current AHA CPR certification is required.
• Must live within a 30-minute response time to Regions Hospital.
• Preferred minimum of 24 months nursing experience.
• SANE-A certification must be held.

Responsibilities

Regions Hospital/RHSC in St. Paul, MN is looking for exceptional, patient focused Forensic Nurse Examiner to join our Emergency Department team and make a difference for our patients and our community.

Under the supervision of the Emergency Medicine Department (EMD) staff physician on duty, this role provides direct care to patients 13 years of age or older who indicate sexual assault has occurred within the past 240 hours. This role also assesses follow-up needs, provides information, and makes community referrals as needed. They will document the history and physical examination findings and may be required to testify to these findings in a court of law. This role will attend a minimum of 6 staff meetings a year, as well as mandatory education sessions when new products or processes are introduced. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work schedule:Per diem, self-schedules 6, 8-hour call shifts per month, working a variety of shifts.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an approved nursing, medical or PA School.
• Must possess a valid license as an RN, MD, or PA issued by the state of Minnesota
• Completion of a 40-hour SANE-A (adolescent/adult) course required.
• Must attend an International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) approved SANE Clinical Skills Lab prior to hire, or within 1 month of hire on their own time, which is tracked by department.
• Current AHA CPR certifications required. RN will maintain current AHA CPR certification.
• Must live within a 30-minute response time to the hospital.
• Preferred minimum of 24 months nursing experience
• Completion of Intimate Partner Violence Nurse Examiner certificate program or Johns Hopkins Danger Assessment training. If one of these trainings are not completed prior to hire, staff will be required to complete within first year of employment
