Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital is seeking a SANE/SATC registered nurse to perform forensic examinations and conduct patient interviews in cases of sexual assault. The per diem role requires 48 hours of call over a six-week schedule, with 1+ year of RN experience and IL/WI training prerequisites.

The position supports patient care, documentation, and collaboration with law enforcement as part of the Forensic Nurse Examiners program.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice with BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Typically requires 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care.
• Completion of IL OAG didactic and clinical training before independent practice.
• WI nurses require didactic and clinical skills training prior to independent practice as a forensic nurse examiner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic examination documenting evidence for legal proceedings.
• Perform forensic interview of patient regarding incident of abuse.
• Collect specimens, photos, and conduct genital and other examinations as indicated.
• Provide medical care and guidance throughout required treatments.
• Coordinate resources and staff to ensure efficient department operations.
• Train and orient staff; supervise and review performance as needed.
