Job summary

Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. (OIC) is seeking an experienced HR Training & Safety Specialist to strengthen employee development, leadership capability, workplace safety, and emergency preparedness across our organization.

This hands-on role coordinates safety and training initiatives, facilitates sessions for employees and managers, and works with the VP of People & Culture to implement development strategies and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Occupational Safety, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Training & Development, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in workplace safety, safety training, emergency preparedness, occupational safety, or training facilitation; 4–5 years preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, transportation, nonprofit, public-sector, or another regulated environment is preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements; familiarity with DOT or fleet safety is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate engaging training for adult learners at varying levels.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging training for employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
• Partner with the VP of People & Culture to assess training needs and execute organization-wide development initiatives.
• Support leadership development through training, coaching, performance-management education, and related topics.
• Develop and adapt training materials, presentations, and facilitator resources.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and suggest improvements based on feedback and measures.
• Maintain the organization-wide training calendar, LMS assignments, and training records.
• Coordinate onboarding content related to safety and employee development.
• Oversee the emergency preparedness program including action plans and drills.
• Conduct routine safety walkthroughs and identify hazards and gaps for corrective action.
• Support safety audits, inspections, incident reviews, and corrective-action tracking.
• Maintain safety records and support OSHA, DOT, and fleet safety requirements.
• Evaluate safety trends and recommend practical improvements to leadership.
• Build relationships to strengthen adoption of safety and development initiatives.
