Job summary

Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. (OIC) in Rocky Mount, NC is seeking an experienced HR Training & Safety Specialist to advance learning, leadership, safety, and emergency preparedness across the organization.

You will work with the VP of People & Culture and Senior Director of HR Operations & Compliance to translate strategy into practical programs and systems. This hands-on role requires you to facilitate sessions, coach leaders, conduct safety walkthroughs, and drive corrective

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Occupational Safety, or related field.
• 3+ years in workplace safety, safety training or emergency prep; 4–5 years preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, transportation, nonprofit, or regulated environments preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA; familiarity with DOT/fleet safety preferred.
• Ability to facilitate training for adult learners and manage multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging training for employees and leaders at all levels.
• Partner with leadership to assess training needs and implement development initiatives.
• Support leadership development through coaching, performance education, and communication.
• Develop training materials, job aids, and facilitator resources.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Maintain company-wide training calendar, LMS assignments, and records.
• Support new hire orientation and onboarding content related to safety and culture.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness program, drills, and evacuation procedures.
• Conduct safety walkthroughs, identify hazards, and drive corrective actions.
• Support safety audits, incident reviews, and corrective-action tracking.
• Maintain safety records and ensure OSHA/DOT compliance with HR leadership.
• Identify trends and suggest practical safety and development improvements.
• Build collaborations across locations to improve participation and adoption.
