Job summary

City and County of Denver is hiring a Peer Support Specialist I for the Focus Area Street Engagement Team. The role focuses on direct outreach to connect people to shelter, housing, and services, operating mostly in the community and outdoors.

The ideal candidate has lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges, one year of peer support delivery, and bi-cultural or bilingual abilities for diverse Denver communities. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges.
• One year of delivering peer support services.
• Experience with unhoused community members and street outreach welcome.

Responsibilities

• Engage people on the street and in outreach to connect them to shelter and services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary outreach team to plan daily operations.
• Use trauma-responsive, person-centered approaches to build trust and foster relationships.
