South Piedmont Community College is seeking a part-time student assistant located on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus. You will warmly welcome students, families, and visitors, connect them with resources, and support the Advising Center with data entry and outreach tasks.

The role involves helping students navigate college systems, maintaining materials, and supporting events and orientation programs while promoting an inclusive campus environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome students, families, and visitors in a warm, professional manner while actively listening to their needs and connecting them with appropriate resources and services.
  • Provide peer-to-peer support to students with common college processes, including accessing Self-Service, navigating student technology platforms, confirming program information, and locating academic and support resources such as curriculum maps, registration materials, and program-specific requirement guides.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to routine inquiries, take accurate messages, and direct students and community members to the appropriate departments.
  • Assist with student outreach efforts, including appointment reminders, follow-up communications, event promotion, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Support the Advising Center by entering and maintaining accurate information in spreadsheets, databases, and other tracking systems, while assisting with basic information gathering and reporting projects.
  • Maintain a welcoming and organized office environment by monitoring shared spaces, managing office supply inventory, and restocking materials as needed.
  • Prepare and assemble student-facing materials, including orientation packets, registration resources, event handouts, and informational guides.
  • Serve as a positive role model by encouraging student engagement, promoting available support services, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
  • Assist with special events, orientation programs, registration activities, workshops, and other student success initiatives as assigned.

Special Conditions Eligibility Summary

Students must have completed a current year’s FAFSA , be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) at South Piedmont Community College, be making Satisfactory Academic Progress ( GPA of 2.000 or higher, a completion rate of 67% or higher, not exceeding the maximum timeframe of 150%) to apply.
