Job summary

Ithaca College’s Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement seeks OAOA Peer Mentors to assist students with academic, social, and personal development and to support the OAOA community.

This student employment role offers up to 12 hours per week during August 2026 through May 2027, reporting to the CSTEP Coordinator, with duties including outreach, event planning, confidentiality, and peer mentor development. It helps build professional skills and has a positive impact on peers.

Qualifications

• OAOA Peer Mentors must be familiar with the programs and services offered by the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement.
• Peer Mentors must demonstrate ability to connect with other students, embrace growth, and understanding of the role that OAOA programs play in our students' lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and socio-emotional support to all students.
• Foster a sense of community and trust among the office by modeling appropriate risk-taking and self-disclosure.
• Create budgets for and facilitate Peer Mentor events to promote community-building and student development.
• Adhere to confidentiality and privacy restraints regarding all students using campus or community-based support services.
• Exercise good judgement in representing OAOA and uphold institutional standards.
• Participate in peer mentor development (trainings, 1:1 meetings with PM supervisor, PM meetings).
• Other duties as assigned.
