Job summary

AMDA Los Angeles invites applications for Peer Mentor positions to support students with life-skills, academics, and wellness. Mentors will work with 1-2 semester students plus transfers and online learners, building belonging and guiding peers.

Responsibilities include mentoring, hosting events, sharing campus resources, providing referrals, and maintaining an approachable presence. The role emphasizes inclusive service, customer excellence, and collaboration with Student Success staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be actively enrolled at AMDA during Fall 2026.
  • Be a 3rd–7th semester undergraduate or graduate student during employment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to individual learning styles.
  • Maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA and good academic standing while serving as Peer Mentor.
  • Exemplary attendance and conduct as deemed by the Student Affairs staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model and mentor students by encouraging and modeling a balance of academic, social and college life.
  • Build positive relationships with student groups through weekly check-in emails, one-on-one study sessions, tutoring, and events to promote community engagement.
  • Share information about important academic weeks, campus events, resources, services, and policies to students via outreach initiatives.
  • Facilitate weekly events for students, including one educational and one social initiative per week.
  • Promote student personal growth, academic success, participation in leadership, programs, and student organizations.
  • Provide student referrals to campus and community resources as appropriate.
  • Maintain an active, visible, approachable role for students.
  • Assist with general office operations and administrative duties for the department.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a welcoming environment for students and visitors.
  • Must be enrolled for Fall 2026; student workers are paid minimum wage; positions are semester-to-semester and not guaranteed.
