Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking an ED Technician to join the Pediatric Emergency Department on a 24-hour-per-week night schedule. The role supports nurses and physicians with tests, monitoring, and patient transport for critically ill children.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 6 months to 1 year of ED Technician or EMS experience. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, HIPAA compliance, and compassionate patient care in a Level One pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1-year previous experience as an ED Technician and/or EMS experience is desired.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with patients, family members, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures.
• Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Assists physicians and nurses providing technical support for patient care.
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor/staff member.
• Assists with the transport of patients to other departments.
• Obtains vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.
• Obtains 12-lead EKGs, manages IV lines including discontinues peripheral IVs.
• Assists with wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and nasogastric tubes.
• Assists with positioning patients, splints, and dressings; fit crutches/canes and instruct use.
