Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a laboratory assistant to support department research activities. Under supervision, you will assist with data collection, experimental execution, and routine lab tasks in a multidisciplinary setting.

You will record results, assist with data interpretation, and help maintain inventories and equipment. Candidates with an interest in biology and chemistry, plus flexibility to learn new techniques, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent
• Minimum experience: none
• Experience with zebrafish is desirable
• Proficiency in fish room management is preferred
• Flexible schedule and willingness to learn
• Strong observations and data recording skills

Responsibilities

• Carry out experimental designs for sponsored research projects and perform routine experiments.
• Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
• Assist with evaluation, interpretation and quality control of experimental data.
• Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff to evaluate data.
• Order and maintain inventories of supplies.
• Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized lab equipment.
• Prepare media and maintain cells using standard culturing techniques.
• Oversee daily lab operations in absence of supervisor or PI.
• Other duties as assigned.
