Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage scheduling, preregistration, and financial clearance, presenting AHN’s services to patients and families with clarity.

The role includes verifying insurance, calculating estimates and balances, and documenting in the ADT system to support accurate billing and a positive patient experience, while upholdingHIPAA and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience preferred in medical/financial services or cust serv.
• Experience operating a PC and common software.
• Preferred: medical terminology and insurance verifications.
• Call/service center experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduling and preregistration tasks, validates demographic data and benefits.
• Verifies insurance information via payor contacts or electronic systems.
• Calculates estimates and collects liabilities; posts payments in ADT system; reconciles daily totals.
• Communicates with patients and external contacts to clarify financial responsibilities.
• Maintains productivity and seeks improvements to performance.
• Follows organizational policies and completes required trainings; performs other duties as assigned.
