Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Medical Assistant for the 05707 GCMG Pediatric Virtual Primary Care - Visits On Demand. The role supports patient intake, vital signs, history, and triage in a fast-paced outpatient setting, with flexible shifts between 8 am and 8 pm and 7 days a week operation.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting specimens, assisting clinicians, administering vaccines and meds per policy, and ensuring accurate charting and patient

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training in lieu of MA program (DD214).
• 2 years of verifiable full-time MA experience within the last 5 years.
• Wake Forest division: High School Diploma or GED required.
• IL/WI divisions: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Greater Charlotte region.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to MA scope of practice and follows policies while maintaining competency.
• Performs rooming and visit tasks: vital signs, history, health maintenance, and screenings.
• Assist provider with procedures and related tasks.
• Laboratory duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per standing orders, CLIA waivers.
• Administer medications and vaccines following medication rights.
• Coordinate refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals; maintain patient communication.
• Maintain clean, stocked work areas and assist onboarding teammates.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Accredited Medical Assistant program

Military clinical training (DD214) in lieu of MA program

2 years verifiable MA experience (last 5 years)

BLS certification (AHA)
