Job summary

Texas Children’s Urgent Care is seeking a part-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team in Houston. The role involves gathering patient information, assessing and providing direct care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver age-appropriate care.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a medical assisting or EMT program, and at least 1 year of related experience. A respiratory fit test will be part of onboarding.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduation from a medical assisting or emergency medical technician program required.
• 1 Year Related Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in collecting patient data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol.
• Records vital signs, BMI, height/weight and reason for visit.
• Prepares patient for examination per protocol.
• Assists provider during treatments, examinations and testing within scope of practice.
• Completes treatments as directed by provider and within scope of practice.
• Administers medications and immunizations as directed by physician per protocol and documents in EMR.
• Acts as scribe for provider and educates patient/family as instructed.
• Assesses eligibility for referrals and documents eligibility in EMR.
• Screens patient complaints and phone calls per protocol.
• Collects and processes specimens per manufacturer's instructions.
