UNC Health Care's 7 Children's unit in Chapel Hill seeks an Experienced RN for a Night Shift on a 36-hour week. The 24-bed Post-Surgical/Trauma Pediatric Unit cares for patients from birth to adolescence, covering general surgery, burns, neurosurgery, orthopedics, trauma, urology and transplant cases.

The role emphasizes coordinated nursing care, patient education, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards and coordinates delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Education: identifies learning needs, attends programs, and uses patient education materials relevant to the population.
• Evaluation of Care: identifies outcomes and communicates with the interdisciplinary team for continuity of care.
• Implementation: cares for patients with complex problems, performs bedside testing, and prioritizes care needs.
• Leadership: helps develop goals for professional growth and supports unit goals and performance improvement.
