Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC seeks an Experienced RN for the Pediatric Acute Care Medicine Unit (6 Children’s). The role involves 36 hours per week with day/night rotation, weekend and holiday rotations, and flexible self-scheduling.

Pediatric experience is preferred but not required; comprehensive training will be provided. Provides competent nursing care in a hospital setting, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinating care using the nursing process.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• One (1) year of nursing experience.
• Willingness to participate in rotating shifts including day/night, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs and educate patients/families using relevant materials.
• Evaluation of Care: identify outcomes and collaborate with interdisciplinary team for care plans.
• Implementation: care of patients with complex needs including education and safety.
• Leadership: contribute to unit goals and performance improvement, promote collaboration.
• Patient Assessment: synthesize data to set priorities and plan discharge.
• Planning: collaborate with family to update the care plan and coordinate resources.
• Research: engage with journals and discuss applicable ideas with the team.
