Job summary

Davies-Institute-For-Speech-and-Hearin is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide high-quality services on an as-needed basis in a pediatric setting in Texas. This role supports clinic operations during absences and peak times while maintaining strong clinical standards.

Requires a Master’s degree in communication disorders or related field and Texas licensure; 5 years pediatric experience preferred. LSLS training is a plus and APD training willingness is welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Compile reports to determine eligibility, needs, and programming.
  • Translate appraisal data into speech and language programs.
  • Develop measurable long- and short-term goals.
  • Plan, prepare, and provide therapy interventions per schedules.
  • Maintain flexibility to provide services across varying schedules.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to review goals and progress.
  • Provide services in inclusive settings and coordinate care with providers.
  • Keep accurate data for each session on assigned caseload.

Position Overview:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides high-quality speech and language services on an as-needed basis to support clinic operations. This role is ideal for a clinician seeking flexibility while contributing to patient care during therapist absences, schedule gaps, or increased caseload demand. The SLP is expected to maintain the same clinical standards and professionalism as all full-time and part-time team members.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct formal and informal evaluations and re-evaluations as assigned, consistent with timelines, laws, regulations, and clinic policies.
  • Compile formal and informal information into written reports to assist in determining eligibility, needs, and programming.
  • Translate appraisal data into research-based, appropriate, and relevant speech and language programs.
  • Develop measurable long- and short-term speech and language goals.
  • Plan, prepare, and provide research-based therapy interventions based on assigned patient schedules.
  • Maintain flexibility to provide services across varying schedules and patient needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to review patient goals and progress.
  • Provide services in inclusive settings when appropriate and coordinate care with other providers.
  • Keep accurate and meaningful data for each session with every patient on assigned caseload.
  • Counsel parents and families on strategies to support communication at home.
  • Follow all clinic procedures, protocols, and documentation standards.
Clinic Support & Engagement:
  • Assist the Clinic Manager with clinical procedures or program improvements when available.
  • Participate in team collaboration and meetings as needed.
  • Support marketing efforts when present in clinic (e.g., community events, referral relationships) as appropriate.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Canva.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Professional and timely communication (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules and clinic needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism, kindness, and tact.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.
  • Valid Texas License in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pediatric setting preferred.
  • Experience with feeding/swallowing therapy preferred.
  • LSLS training or knowledge is a plus.
  • Willingness to be trained in and provide services for Auditory Processing Disorder.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, sitting, lifting, and walking.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Maintain flexibility in job responsibilities as clinic needs evolve.
  • Availability to accept or decline shifts based on personal schedule and clinic demand.
