Job summary

The Cahokia Board of Education seeks a Pediatric Physical Therapist to support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. The role includes screening, evaluation, and intervention through a district-based PT program, aligned with IEPs and collaborative teams.

The position requires Illinois licensure, a PT degree, and public school experience. Services are provided across multiple sites with a focus on maximizing student mobility and access to learning.

Qualifications

  • Two years of pediatric physical therapy experience preferred.
  • Public school experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students' functional capabilities and classroom environments to determine functional level and recommend curriculum access.
  • Assess gross motor and development skills to identify deficits and guide recommendations.
  • Communicate with students, parents, teachers, and staff to evaluate situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Consult with students, parents, and guardians to improve access and mobility in school-related activities.
  • Coordinate with the IEP team to determine appropriate treatments and attend IEP meetings.
  • Develop treatment plans and educational materials from IEPs to remediate motor skill deficits.
  • Facilitate meetings to ensure curriculum guidelines and state mandates are met.
  • Identify barriers to access and determine adaptive equipment needs.
  • Instruct students and staff on medical attributes and use of adaptive equipment.
