Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification required for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously; demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures to maintain integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings and answer inquiries related to results.
