Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Patient Care Technician to collaborate with the nursing team and perform basic nursing care activities. You will help maintain a safe, clean patient care setting and assist staff in directing patient flow.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, with at least 1 year of healthcare experience in pediatrics preferred. CNA/EMT/CPCT and BLS are required or in scope, with strong interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of healthcare experience in pediatrics if possible.
• Clinical experience from nursing school or military corpsman training preferred.
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and basic calculations.
• Strong human relations and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients and orient families to call lights and monitor use.
• Perform vital signs and basic nursing tasks under RN direction.
• Support daily living activities, nutrition, and personal care as ordered.
• Document in nursing systems and report changes to the charge nurse.
• Maintain infection control practices and a safe patient environment.
