Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide continuous observation and individualized care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This part-time role supports a high‑quality pediatric care environment at our Akron campus.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, BLS certification, and at least one year of related experience, with strong communication and teamwork to comfort patients and families and ensure accurate documentation

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
• Years of relevant experience: Minimum one year of experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
• Provide evidence-based de-escalation interventions.
• Maintain a safe environment for self, patients and others.
• Remain alert and attentive to ensure patient safety and wellbeing.
• Perform direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients as delegated.
• Document observations and interventions accurately in EPIC.
• Stock linens and supplies and assist nursing staff as needed.
• Notify nursing staff promptly of distress, changes in condition, or concerns.
