Job summary

Children's National Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for post-anesthesia care in a fast-paced pediatric setting. You will evaluate airway status, provide rescue ventilation when needed, and coordinate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure safe recovery.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and collaboration to deliver high-quality pediatric care and support families throughout the perioperative period.

Qualifications

• BSN from an approved nursing program.
• 2 years PACU experience or related critical care in pediatrics.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia (Required).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patient airway postoperatively and respond to emergencies.
• Perform IPPV and monitor cardiopulmonary function and oxygenation.
• Address emergence delirium and provide timely pain management.
• Manage epidural/local anesthetics and neuraxial blocks when indicated.
• Document care and collaborate with the health care team to ensure safety.
