Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Fairfax, VA is seeking a registered nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. The RN will provide comprehensive postoperative care, assess airway and breathing, and respond to emergencies with sound clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• BSN from an approved school of nursing is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years PACU experience or equivalent critical care/pediatric ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients' airway postoperatively.
• Perform IPPV and monitor cardiopulmonary function.
• Provide timely postoperative pain management.
• Manage epidural/local anesthetic or nerve blocks as indicated.
• Demonstrate patient-, family-, and team-centered care with safety as priority.
